Life Insurance Post Military Services

Planning for the worst doesn’t need to cost you a fortune.

Balancing the competing interests and priorities of work associated with transition from active duty is challenging. You still have the day-to-day requirements of your job that need to be met, and you still need to focus on being present for your family. As a result, several of these priorities get relegated. One important item that cannot be overlooked is a proper Life Insurance Policy. In January 2023 a major overhaul of Veteran Life insurance took place which saw the discontinuation of the SGLI Life Insurance Program to now, what is called the Veterans Affairs Life Insurance or VALife.

If in need of Life Insurance following your military service you are eligible to apply for Veterans Affairs Life Insurance. Monthly premiums are competitive and lower than anything else available on the public Life Insurance market.

You’re eligible for VALife if you have a VA service-connected disability rating—even if your rating is 0%. There’s no time limit to apply after getting your disability rating.

For example, a 26 year old’s monthly premium for a $400,000 policy is $28. Other highly rated companies offering life insurance policies are the following:

MassMutual
Haven Life
Guardian Life
AARP
New York Life
Pacific Life
State Farm
Lincoln Financial
Northwestern Mutual
USAA
