My name is Rory. I’m a SOF medic and credentialed provider in the U.S. Navy. I’ve been active duty for 17 years and I am currently still serving. My bio is pretty standard for anyone who’s been in for over 15 years. I’ve worked with SOF and conventional units alike. I’ve deployed to the Middle East, Central and South America, Arctic Circle and a few other notable locations. Every experience has provided a compounding sense of humility.
I’ve been humbled by failure, more than I’d like to admit, and I’ve been inspired by regular men and women going above and beyond for their country and community.
The story of Zero Nexxus spans many years but it remains simple. In short, I’m equal parts compassion and aggression and the sheer frustration of observing friends struggle with the existing transition process finally brought me to an impasse. Reaching that threshold inspired me to take action. I made the decision, with the support of my wife, to make a large withdrawal from our retirement. That money was spent on creating a resource for ALL active duty to obtain a well-informed path to transition, regardless of occupation or length of service.
Ultimately, Zero Nexxus is less about me as an individual and more about the path forward for every future veteran.
It is my vision that veterans should be holding more positions in public office at the town, state and federal level. We should be writing legislation that reflects our experience from traveling the world and from being on the business end of foreign policy. We should be writing curriculum for the history we helped make, we should be educators and superintendents of our children’s schools. Our ability to influence change is contingent on one thing, us.
I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to help you create an aggressive plan for your transition from the military.
Rory
